UMBC text messaging service gives you the option to subscribe to receive text messages from the university on your mobile device. SMS messaging will be used to provide information on upcoming events and announcements, as well as important admissions and financial aid reminders. Subscribing to this service is not required to apply for or gain admission to UMBC and is used only for matters that UMBC deems helpful and pertinent to the admissions process.

Message frequency varies.  By signing up, you are confirming you are over the age of 13.

All mobile information you share will remain confidential and will only be used by UMBC representatives to assist you in the admissions and financial aid process. The UMBC Admissions office may share your phone number with other divisions within UMBC in order to provide you with better service while applying, or with our vendors who provide assistance in the admission process.  For more information on our privacy policy during the application process please visit https://privacy.umbc.edu or contact admissions@umbc.edu.

Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. By opting to send messages to UMBC or receive messages from UMBC, you agree that University of Maryland – Baltimore County is not responsible for the costs associated with any messages.  Should you have any question regarding the cost of sending or receiving text messages, you should consult with your wireless carrier.

Opt In / Subscribe

All users may opt in or subscribe to begin receiving text messages by texting JOIN to UMBC4U (862248). Users may also contact admissions@umbc.edu to facilitate your opt-in request.  By subscribing, you will continue to receive text messages from UMBC until you unsubscribe.

Opt Out / Unsubscribe

All users may opt out or unsubscribe from receiving text messages by texting STOP to UMBC4U (862248). Users may also contact admissions@umbc.edu to facilitate your opt-out request. If you elect to opt out, you will no longer receive text messages from UMBC unless you re-subscribe.

Help

All users may receive help by texting HELP to UMBC4U (862248).
